Oh look! An empty seat

For a stranger or a friend to meet.

The stories this bench has heard,

A joke, a confession, a kind word.

A flask and sandwiches, I will bring,

For a much needed chat about all and nothing.

We'll sit here a while sipping our coffee

And put the world to rights, here under this tree. 

We can stay in silence if you prefer,

Just sit and watch the sun as if it were;

the last sunset we will enjoy together,

Before you leave behind a little white feather.
